Hummingbird Point

Along the Gila river Hohokam and Patayan tribes made their homes here for over 500 years. Two different tribes, two different cultures, that spoke different languages, but managed to live together and possibly work together.

Both of these peoples left their mark on the land they called home before they left around 1400ad. Pueblos, pit houses, and ballcourts have almost completely vanished from the area after being excavated and buried, or destroyed by farming and looting but the images on the rocks still tell stories that we may never be able to completely interpret.
