Honeybee Canyon – Tucson

On a trip to Tucson we were looking for a quick and easy hike and we found Honeybee Canyon. It’s a 1.5 mile round trip hike through a sandy wash that leads you to a main rock with petroglyphs left by the Hohokam people over 600 years ago.

I remember reading something about there being a battle in the canyon between possibly Apaches and some US Army scouts, but I could have that wrong. In any case, there are what appears to be bullet marks in the rocks at the fork in the wash.

Along the trail you will come across a wall made by cattle and sheep herders that came through towards the end of the 19th century.
